Nominated by Sarah Larson: Our family is full of many Military Heroes, along with many family friends, all of whom deserve our utmost gratitude but the one I wanted to share with you is my Great-grandfather Harold Langton.
Harold joined the British Navy at the age of 15 in 1914. He served all through the Great War and in peace time until 1925. He survived U-boats, his ship being sunk and the other perils of being a seaman.
He honorably retired from the Navy and emigrated to Canada, where in 1939 when war broke out again he went to sign up, though by now he was fourty years old. The recruiting officers laughed at him and sent him away. He was persistent and was eventually given a position with the Air Force in Whitehorse. He was a selfless man, who always put others before him and stood for what was right. He may not be with us anymore, but he’s still my hero.
We’d love to hear about the person in your life, worthy of celebrating and honoring – Nominate your Military Hero today!
