My husband says he’s going to stop looking at the gun trader. He just told me this afternoon. Without any prompting or nudging from me. Honest. You have no idea what the gun trader means to him. He’ll buy one, sell one, trade two, buy the first one back he sold to that guy on the north side…and on and on…and on.
We’ve come so far as a family that this has never really bothered me. But he told me today, during his lunch break at work, that he’s been thinking about the hours and hours he spends online looking, communicating, shopping and trading—and that is time he is wasting…and could be spending it focusing on fixing stuff around the house, tinkering on our ‘new to us but needs lots of work Camper’, giving back, family, on God. He told me he’s been thinking a lot about what our pastor shared days earlier. About pruning…
John 15:2 – He cuts off every branch of mine that doesn’t produce fruit, and he prunes the branches that do bear fruit so they will produce even more.
We have come a long way. We’ve experienced a lot of pruning. Once, on the very edge of going separate ways—God saw it fit to bring faith filled folks around us, until we couldn’t help but lean into Him and each other.
If you’re in a place of the unknown right now, just know God has a purpose for the pain and He is always very near. Dead things don’t need pruning. They’re dead. But you’re ALIVE!!! I’m praying over these words right now as I type and pray that if you should be one to read these words that God would reach out and let you feel His touch ever so clearly.
