Christmas Gift Away Recipient #10: Shawna from Abbotsford!
Sonya shared this about Shawna:
My daughter and I met Shawna at a Bible study at our church when she moved to Abbotsford approximately 4 years ago. She was so sweet and shared how she had 6 children and home schooled them all. When my daughter and I got into our vehicle to go home we both said, “I could be friends with her!” We both laughed and as it was, my daughter became close friends with Shawna as they are closer in age, but I see Shawna often and consider her my friend too. Fast forward to Oct. 19th, Shawna was helping me with babysitting my granddaughter and I didn’t even know it was her birthday that day. The very next day my daughter called me crying, saying that Shawna’s husband, Jason was on a business trip, out of town, with his 6 year old daughter, felt sick, drove himself to the hospital and died of a heart aneurysm at the hospital. Shawna is 39 years old and is now raising her 6 children on her own.
She loves the Lord and knows He has been her Rock through the last several weeks. One week before Jason passed away, he bought Shawna an 8 person van so that they could fit their whole family in it. Just a couple of weeks ago, Shawna was headed into Vancouver with her children, was rear-ended and the ‘dream vehicle’ that Jason bought her was ‘written off’! With all that she and her family have been through, they ‘shine’ with the love of Christ and I felt they deserve to be nominated. She is such a special person and blesses others even though she is going through such devastating grief.
Praying that this blesses Shawna and her family this Christmas as they grieve the loss of Jason… May they know the perfect love and peace of Jesus Christ as they move forward.
Thank you Praise 106.5 for choosing my friend Cory as a winner for the Christmas Gift Away Contest.
The gift prize was sent to my address at Cory’s request.
Unfortunately, I did not receive it and was unable to pass it on to him.
I am disappointed, more so than Cory, as I had really wanted to see him blessed with this for Christmas.
As disappointing as it is, I still want to thank you for the contest and doing all that you did to help Cory.
Nicole.
