Day 11 November 2, 2013
< Prev Day | Next Day >

The morning begins on Mount Zion, just outside the walls of the Old City. Here, we'll visit two adjoining sites – the traditional Tomb of King David and the Cenacle – the "Upper Room" of the Last Supper. We'll enter the Old City via the Zion Gate and head into the restored Jewish Quarter. Here we'll see the remains of the Roman/Byzantine Cardo and the "Broad Wall" – remains of the city from the Old Testament period. At the Burnt House, we'll view an audio-visual presentation concerning Jerusalem's destruction by the Romans. We'll descend below street level and visit the Wohl Archaeological Museum – an exhibition of the remains of mansions of the city's aristocracy during Jesus' time. After lunch we'll have time for private prayer at the Western Wall, the holiest accessible place on earth for the Jewish People. We'll continue to the Jerusalem Archaeological Park/Davidson Center. In the Davidson Center we'll view a wonderful audio-visual presentation that provides a virtual tour of the Second Temple as archaeologists believe it appeared to Jewish pilgrims of that period. We’ll explore monumental ruins of the Second Temple complex built by Herod the Great and stand on the broad staircase, likely used by Jesus himself for approaching the Temple. Dinner and overnight in Jerusalem.
