Day 7 October 29, 2013
< Prev Day | Next Day >

This morning we'll visit a beautiful spot on the Jordan River where you will have the opportunity for full immersion baptism or the reaffirmation of your baptismal vows. We will then travel south through the Jordan Valley passing by the ancient city of Jericho, view from a distance this city famed as the oldest in the world. We will stop at Qumran, where a young shepherd boy discovered the Dead Sea Scrolls in 1947 in a cave. These scrolls are the oldest scriptures of the Bible ever found.  Learn about the Essences who wrote the scrolls, highlighting the connection to John the Baptist. We then drive to the lowest point on earth the Dead Sea, over 1300 feet below sea level. The quantity of water that evaporates from it is greater than that which flows into it, such that this body of water has the highest concentration of salt in the world! Enjoy free time to soak in the sea and discover that you really do float and perhaps take a mud bath while you are at it. Dinner and overnight at the Dead Seas.
