BASED ON A TRUE STORY:

Edward Fudge, a young Bible-belt preacher, gets a surprise visit from an eccentric stranger who has a bizarre request. He wants Fudge to investigate Hell.

Son of a respected church leader known for his conservative religious views, Edward is confident that whatever the Bible really teaches is right. Trained in biblical languages and theology, he finds the proposal intriguing. He agrees to take it on, not knowing where it will lead. He dedicates a year of his life to a systematic study of Hell – and his life will never be the same again.

As Fudge immerses himself in research, other aspects of his life begin to crumble. Leaders of his own denomination attack him for suggesting that members of other churches can be saved.

His own congregation – people he loves and serves – fires him after he invites a black man to pray from the podium. The publishing company he has worked for since childhood terminates his employment because he refuses to recant his liberal positions.

He becomes so committed to his research that his relationship with his wife and children begins to suffer. And, most importantly, in the course of his investigation some of his core beliefs about God and judgment and eternity are shaken from their foundations. Ultimately, Fudge emerges as a defender of faith and Scripture, and a champion for God's love.

Today Edward Fudge is a well-respected author, lecturer, and theologian. The book that resulted from his research, The Fire That Consumes, is a compelling study on the subject of Hell and eternal torment. It stands as a testimony to a man who had the courage to search for truth and to pay the price for what he found.

Heritage Park is the place to be on May 25th! The annual Fun Fair hosted by Valley Christian School will run from 10am to 3pm. This is a community wide event with something for everyone! Rejoice! The Best of Gospel Music

In two dynamic concerts audiences will hear “the best of” new music arranged by Artistic Director Gail Suderman, featuring songs from the recently filmed-for-TV concert from the upcoming series “Gospel to Go” on Vision TV. Audiences will also enjoy classic gospel songs that recall the great gospel singers and groups such as Mahalia Jackson, The Blind Boys of Alabama and the Mighty Clouds of Joy to the era of Andrae Crouch and Dottie Rambo, up to present day with songs by Whitney Houston and Mary Mary. Accompanying the choir will be Mike Kalanj on Hammond B3, Elliot Polsky on drums, Laurence Mollerup on bass, Ingrid Stitt on Saxophones and director Gail Suderman will lead from the piano.

Known as Vancouver’s “go-to” gospel choir, Good Noise celebrates a year of honours and distinctions. Starting the 2012-2013 season, the choir was nominated for a Canadian Gospel Music Award for the debut CD, “Glory to the Newborn King.” Immediately following was an invitation to sing with the legendary Barbra Streisand at Rogers Arena. Vancouver Sun’s Francois Marchand highlighted the choir as he declared, "The highlight of the concert was easily the spectacular rendition of Leonard Bernstein's Make Our Garden Grow, which united Streisand, Il Volo, Botti, Gould, violinist Caroline Campbell and the Good Noise Vancouver Gospel Choir for an all-out ode to love and nature."

The recognition continued with Good Noise being voted “Best Choir” in the Vancouver Courier’s 2013 Reader’s Choice Awards, keeping company with some of Vancouver’s choral institutions: Vancouver Bach Choir, Musica Intima, Vancouver Chamber Choir and Chor Leoni Men’s Choir. In addition, the choir will be featured in a brand new six-episode television series called “Gospel to Go” highlighting gospel music in Canada and airing in the Fall of this year. Rounding out the Season, Good Noise will head into the studio to record their second CD with Juno award-winning recording engineer Sheldon Zaharko at Bryan Adams’ Warehouse Studios.

Senior Star 2013 Call for Audtions

You are invited to become involved in the largest celebration of senior talent in Canada. Chartwell Langley Gardens Retirement Community and the Renaissance Residence will be hosting preliminary auditions June 5 and 6 and be hosting a Final Langley Competition on June 20 at the Summit Theatre in Cascades Casino.

Senior Star is a talent competition showcasing the musical and singing abilities of local seniors in a fun and engaging way. Contestants can sing or play a musical instrument solo and have the opportunity to compete in both regional and national events. Now in its seventh year, Senior Star auditions are open to anyone 65 years or older and a Canadian resident. Application Packages and information can be obtained at Langley Gardens Retirement Community at 604.888.0228 or the the Renaissance Retirement Residence at 604.539.0571.

Auditions will take place on June 5 at the Renaissance Retirement Residence and June 6 at Langley Gardens Retirement Community. Five contestants will advance from each of these residences to the June 20 final Langley event. The June 20 Langley talent competition will also be a fundraiser for the Langley Memorial Hospital Foundation. The funds raised will be used for equipment and services that benefits seniors. Orbit is going in for his third Open Heart surgery on July 9th and although in Canada, the surgery is payed for expences from taking time off and care for Orbit's older brothers, the 104km drive each way to and from Children's Hospital, meds, food costs for the parent that has to stay with him 24/7 and other unforeseen costs all add up.

For buyers - there will be a entrance fee by donation, a silent auction, door prize raffle, concession, great product to buy, and other fun ways to help!

Vendors, Crafters, and Swappers - Set up is from 7:30-9am, and tear down is from 4:30-6pm. There are still 3 large corner spots left for $35. And quite a few 6x2.5 tables for $25 each. Vendors and crafters are being asked to donate a door prize ($5-$10 value) or silent auction piece ($15 or more value).

There will also be a concession (baked good donations would be appreciated)

All proceeds from table charge, entrance donations, raffle, silent auction, concession, other fun things, and Crowned Jewels Table will go to Orbit's surgery fund.
