In recognition of National Red Cross Month, the Mt. Baker Chapter of the American Red Cross is hosting several events to provide valuable information and fundraising efforts for the local chapter to better serve Whatcom County and Skagit Valley.
Be Red Cross Ready preparedness events in Whatcom and Skagit:
- Thursday, March 7th from 5:00 to 6:00pm at the Mt. Baker Chapter, 2111 King Street, Bellingham.
- Tuesday, March 12th, 5:00 to 6:00pm at the WA Federal Bank Community Room,104 S. Walnut Street, Burlington.
Red Cross staff and volunteers will teach residents how to prepare themselves and their family for emergency situations. Participants will learn how to build an emergency kit, create a disaster plan, and receive useful emergency tips about floods, house fires and earthquakes. Free of charge.
Get to Know Us presentation:
- Tuesday, March 19, from 5:30-6:30pm at the Mt. Baker Chapter, 2111 King St. Bellingham.
Come learn about the many services that the Mt. Baker Chapter of the American Red Cross provides in Whatcom County and Skagit Valley. The presentation will be geared toward prospective new volunteers, interested community members and potential business partners. .
Fill the ERV event:
- March 15th from 6:00am to 6:00pm at DeWaard and Bode, 3944 Meridian Street, Bellingham.
Come for a 12-hour live broadcast as community preparedness information is shared and a fundraiser is held to ‘fill the Emergency Response Vehicle’ (ERV). Each year it costs the Mt. Baker Chapter $27,000 to fill the ERV, their mobile feeding unit, with disaster relief supplies that are distributed to disaster victims throughout the year.
