Michael Szuk, Columbia Bible College Faculty Member

Acts is the only record of the early church in action. As such, there are relevant life lessons to be learned from this amazing New Testament book. After a brief introduction, the lectures focus on the great themes of Acts. The course explores the mission and message of Jesus through the empowerment of the Holy Spirit, evangelism of the early church, the characteristics of the new people of God and the key characters of Acts.

Anacortes Home and Boat Tour

The Dr. Samuel G. Brooks Guild of Anacortes is celebrating its 75th year of fund raising for Seattle Children's Hospital.  The Home and Boat Tour serves as the major fundraiser of the year.  All proceeds benefit the Hospital's Uncompensated Care Program, enabling the Hospital to continue its 106 year tradition of providing care, regardless of a family's ability to pay.

This year's exciting tour features five unique homes (two in historic old town Anacortes, one toward the ferry terminal, and two in the south section of town); two interesting Chris Craft wooden boats, including the “Irresistible” (an exquisite 45-foot 1954 Chris Craft) and the “Serafino” (a beautiful 45-foot 1963 Chris Craft Constellation), birthed at the Cap Sante Boat Haven; and a bonus backstage tour of the Anacortes Community Theater.  Each location will feature the story of a local child whose life has been touched by the compassionate, incomparable care at Seattle Children's.  The Salish Sea Plein-Air Artists will again be painting original works at several venues.  Their paintings will be offered for sale at the Tea Room, this year located at the Christ Episcopal Church Gathering Room, 1216 7th Street, Anacortes. Complimentary refreshments, tour and raffle tickets, and restrooms will be available here throughout the day.

Tickets ($20 donation) may be purchased: Anacortes Visitor Information Center - 819 Commercial Ave, Anacortes – 360-293-3832 On-line tickets: On day of Tour: Tea Room (located at Christ Episcopal Church, 1216 7th Street) and at each venue.

Creation Science Meeting

DVD Presentation & Discussion: Did You Know … The best evolutionary models say that many of the planets in our Solar System should not exist. Yet there they are. Did God create our Solar System less than 10,000 years ago, as the Bible says? Or did it form all by itself from a cloud of gas 4,600,000,000 years ago, as secular astronomers claim? Which account of history is true? Recent discoveries in space have supported the Biblical account. Each planet in our Solar System defies the evolutionary model in multiple ways. Discover what you aren’t being told about our Solar System!

SK8 Pink for Melanie Fundraiser

Melanie Sexton is a staple and manager of the Lynden Skateway.

Melanie, who is 35 years old, was diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Carcinoma that is triple negative, which limits the treatment options available. Melanie has completed her fourth round of Chemo, and though it has been a really tough, sick, achy, time; she has never lost her fighting spirit. In the times of good Melanie has been able to get out and enjoy some of the beautiful weather! The tumor has not shrunk, but has changed in some positive ways. What a beautiful thing hope is. This battle is going to be a long one, but she is hopeful that the tumors will be shrunk enough by the chemo to be able to complete the double mastectomy surgery she desperately needs.   Her wonderful husband Ryan, who is now the sole financial provider for the family is doing a great job of balancing working two jobs and helping to care for Melanie, but she needs him so much at home and easing this financial weight would provide her the opportunity to have him with her more often. Along with Ryan, Melanie has her incredible son Tavin who is 16 and such a huge help around the house, and seven year old twins, Ryker and Ryland "Little." Melanie is the rock of this family and needs to focus on fighting this cancer and getting well.

Documentary Film, The Fourth World, by Mark Volkers

There's a humanitarian crisis enfulfing one-in-six people on planet earth...and the other five are completely unaware of it. One in six of us - over a billion people - live in a slum. Characterized by lack of sanitation, dangerous city zones and capricious landlords, slums are growing fast. In fact, the biggest people migration in the history of the world is contributing to this growth: the movement from countryside to city. Join Mark Volkers, professor at Dordt College in Sioux Center, IA, on a journey to the worlds slums. He will be showing his award-winning documentary film, The Fourth World. This film has played at film festivals around the world and has won numerous awards. It has broadcast in many countries and is currently in negotiations with The Discovery Channel. Professor Volkers will present the film and a Q and A as we go inside The Fourth World to discover this hidden sociological time bomb.

Women of Whatcom Girls Night Out with Lori Salierno

With a gripping and contagious style, Dr. Lori Salierno addresses many audiences across the country. Dr. Salierno was the very first speaker for Women of Whatcom in 2010. We were challenged and refreshed as she brought messages out of her obedience to the Lord and His Word. So much has happened in her life since that time. We are excited to welcome her back and we will celebrate with her ALL the Lord has done and see what He has in store for us next.

Join the Women of Whatcom for this "Girls Night Out". One night only held at Cornwall Church, Friday, October 17th at 7pm.

General admission tickets are $25.00 (doors open at 6:15pm)

VIP tickets (limited to 50) are $40.00 (doors open at 5:30pm)
