We met Liz when my son started his freshman year of high school. We started under strained circumstances - Joe, my son, was undergoing chemotherapy for a cancer diagnosis and that, coupled with his birth defect (spina bifida) and associated learning delays, we landed into the care of Mrs. Isaly. Joe's entire educational experience up to that point had been educators, despite their good intentions, "doing" for him and making allowances for him because of his circumstances. When we met Liz, that changed. She held Joe accountable and made him WANT to succeed! She started a fire in my son that allowed him to graduate on time with his peers, and with college scholarships. Had it not been for her and her determination that he succeed by his own merit, I don't know where we'd be! She is an incredible teacher who is strong is spirit, love and support.
