Your Life - PRAISE Updates

Never Too Young for a Fishing Pole
1 1

This week my grandson, Canyon, turns the Big 1!   This is our first opportunity to spoil him with gifts.  I got him his first fishing pole. I’m pretty sure he won’t actually fish with it, but he will beat things around the house with it for sure.  Of course he will enjoy the packaging as much or more than the gift itself.   The truth of the saying “it’s better to give than receive,” really come to life at times like this.

While anticipating the party and watching him light up at the presents, I got to thinking. If I get so much joy out of my grandson’s joy, how much more joy must God have when we are joyful at what He has given us?!?  And, I wonder, how often does He give me the desires of my heart and I brush them off as if it is nothing?   It’s really makes me want to be sure I’m fully aware of His gifts to me and that I make sure I let him know just how thankful I am!

I have been with CRISTA Media for over 35 years. In addition to hosting weekday mornings, I'm the day-to-day guy as Operations Manager. Originally from Florida, I met my wife, Sharon at Dordt College in Iowa, and moved to her hometown of Lynden. I started working at PRAISE and haven't stopped! I have 2 boys; Hunter, and his beautiful wife Aimee (and their sons Canyon, Wyatt and Silas), and Chase, and his lovely wife Samantha (and their daughter Clarke).

I agree. I'm going to start a blessings and testimonies book to record all the amazing things that God does for me, so when I'm feeling down I can look at the book and think, hey God is good to me.

  • Making a difference is rewarding, but no one ever said it was safe. Just ask Franklin Graham and his team at Samaritan’s Purse, one of the world’s leading relief organizations. Several years ago, a global threat began to appear, in the form of the Ebola virus. The inspiring story is told in “Facing Darkness,” a one-night Fathom theater event.

Disagreements are common and can lead to a dead end. But KeepTheFaith’s Relationship Chef Dr. Joe Beam has a recipe to help you move forward.

Walking a mile in someone else’s shoes might give you something other than a blister…it could give you perspective. That’s what happened to Shannon DeGarmo, a wife and mom who is learning to be a “Bounce Back Woman.”

I wonder how different life would be if we were able to truly let go of our past mistakes. Our friend Matthew West loves to take real life moments and turn them into songs.

Some people hear laughter in the rain. Maybe you just hear rain. Our friend Tim Storey is here to help.

When we’re struggling, there are words we need to hear, and sometimes those words can be challenging. It’s happened to Andy Andrews.

If you’ve ever felt like you desperately need a second chance…or a 10th chance, Jon Weece has good news. He shares a story that reminds us how we can always get back up.
