PRAISE 106.5 DJ - Morning Show

I have been with CRISTA Media for over 35 years. In addition to hosting weekday mornings, I'm the day-to-day guy as Operations Manager. Originally from Florida, I met my wife, Sharon at Dordt College in Iowa, and moved to her hometown of Lynden. I started working at PRAISE and haven't stopped! I have 2 boys; Hunter, and his beautiful wife Aimee (and their sons Canyon, Wyatt and Silas), and Chase, and his lovely wife Samantha (and their daughter Clarke).

  • Spring! What a crazy time of year.   College graduations, Proms, High School graduations and weddings all seem to crowd the calendar if you have people in your life going through these life highlights.  Then there’s the outside chore list that grows just like the grass and we can’t forget the trials of finding things for the kids to do once school is out for the Summer!  Wow, that’s multi-tasking at a higher rate than normal.

That’s how our youngest son told us they were expecting a baby girl! Now you need to know that my dad had two boys. I have two boys and my oldest son has two boys with a third on the way.  So, this is a generational ‘game changer’ for the Boumas.  I frankly am not sure how I will ‘deal’ with a baby girl.  I have no experience.  Yet, like a first baby of either kind, it really does come natural once you are in that moment.

  • Well, we’ve made it to summer. I know the calendar is a little slow on this one but, trust me, it’s summer!  Just ask any 10 year old.  For a lot of families, there may be some form of camping in their summer plans.  Whether it’s in a tent or 40 foot motorhome, what is it about camping that we love?  I have got to hand it to moms who get out of their comfort zone and go places and sleep in things they themselves would NEVER do, EXCEPT for the kids.

  • I’m looking at that question in a different light recently, because I am now a part of both the Twitter universe as well as Instagram! As such, I have a gazillion people offered to me to follow. Being from an ancient civilization known as ‘baby boomers’ this is taking some getting used to. My theory, so far, has been to take it slow and not follow too many too soon.

  • The children worked long and hard on their own little cardboard shack. It was to be a special spot—a clubhouse—where they could meet in solemn assembly or just laugh, play games, and fool around. As they thought long and hard about their rules, they came up with three rather perceptive ones...
