  • Ever have a dream dashed? I can vividly remember being 7 years old and invited by a neighbor to go to my first Major League Baseball game. I was so excited. The morning of the game, I jumped out of bed and ran into my parents’ room. they were still sleeping, and woke up my mom. She took one look at me and said “You’re not going anywhere.”

  • A pink tipped white rose.

That’s how our youngest son told us they were expecting a baby girl! Now you need to know that my dad had two boys. I have two boys and my oldest son has two boys with a third on the way.  So, this is a generational ‘game changer’ for the Boumas.  I frankly am not sure how I will ‘deal’ with a baby girl.  I have no experience.  Yet, like a first baby of either kind, it really does come natural once you are in that moment.

  • I’m looking at that question in a different light recently, because I am now a part of both the Twitter universe as well as Instagram! As such, I have a gazillion people offered to me to follow. Being from an ancient civilization known as ‘baby boomers’ this is taking some getting used to. My theory, so far, has been to take it slow and not follow too many too soon.

  • I’m an avid outdoorsman. I love being out in the ‘garden’ God has given mankind. Although in a fallen state, it’s still spectacular, and my experiences have taught me that it can be scary too. A couple of weeks ago Sharon and I spent 5 days with friends...

  • Boy, how time flies. My wife Sharon and I just celebrated our 33rd wedding anniversary. Actually, you could say our 66th anniversary. You see, when we got married, our pastor wrote the wrong date on the marriage certificate and so we actually have 2 anniversaries each year. It’s amazing that that much time has passed. I have to give my wife all the credit. I’ve lived with myself my whole life, it isn’t always easy, yet she has done so with wonderful grace all this time.

  • It's coooold out there, friends. I hope you are finding warmth in your heater, in your warm blankets or with hot chocolate in your hand. Take a moment to make sure you are prepared for the upcoming snow with a full tank of gas and some snacks in the car. Be safe out there.
