Your Life - PRAISE Updates

  • I read that “Joy to the World” is the most loved Christmas song. I think we all long for joy. Yet it’s an elusive thing, especially at Christmas! There can be so many joy stealers --busyness, the culture around us

  • Are you a risk taker or are you more like me, and want life more safe and secure? I like it when I feel like I know what's coming next, when I'm "in control." Recently, I've felt God nudging me out of my comfort zone

  • It’s easy with the demands and frantic pace of the season to get caught in the headlong rush to the morning of December 25th. This Christmas season I want to be intentional about making time to take in the wonder of God’s stunning plan to rescue us from our sin. So, what is it going to take for me to not get caught up in the rush?

  • This morning, as I went through my emails, I had received a message from Jim Daly, President and CEO of Focus on the Family. To see love, through the story he shared, really touched me. I hope it touches you as well!

  • Growing up, what were you taught about Biblical conflict resolution?  Ha, ha!  Me too, nada, zip.  I went blindly into friendships, marriage, parenting, jobs knowing next to nothing about healthy conflict.  Yet conflict resolution is at the heart of the message of Jesus. He died to reconcile us to the Father, and wants us to reconcile relationships here on earth.

  • Easter is just around the corner. For many, this holiday is about bunnies hiding eggs and candy filled baskets. For me, it’s about the miraculous sacrificial death and resurrection of Jesus Christ!

Down through the centuries, many have tried to discredit the resurrection. They have no problem with the kind, compassionate Jesus who ministered to the poor and downtrodden. This view of Jesus requires nothing of them. They can admire Jesus; even emulate Him, but still answer to no one but themselves.

A risen Jesus SHOUTS that He is the Son of God, and as such He has a claim on us. I am accountable to Him, my Redeemer, the One who loves me and gave His life for me. Through His death and resurrection Jesus conquered sin and death, opening heaven for you, me and anyone who accepts His gift of eternal life. We love Him with our lives because He is risen! He is risen indeed!

  • Love it or dread it…back to school season is here! This time of year signals a time of transition. Young children off to their first day of Kindergarten. Teachers finalizing lesson plans. New students wandering in circles. Anxious high schoolers faking confidence.

Some invite new experiences. Others feel fear. All must move forward. Regardless of age or life circumstance, many of us feel the same way. It’s fun attacking new situations with confidence, isn’t it? Confidence is different than courage. Courage often involves fear while moving forward. It doesn’t necessarily mean you feel courageous.

As a child, I was shy and introverted.  I found new situations involving relating to strangers very difficult for me. Was I sometimes fearful? Definitely! Over time, as I faced new situations, I learned I wasn’t as inept as I felt and actually came more confident. Am I still fearful sometimes? Absolutely!

In this season of transition, are you facing something you’re fearful of? Be encouraged to move forward with God’s help!

    Courage to you!

  • Learning to Be Still

I am going to get out of my comfort zone and share something with you. This past 15 months have been the most difficult for my family and most emotional season of our lives so far. I've been feeling truly devastated and alone, even in a roomful of people. So, I've been doing something ALL DAY and NIGHT. I am listening to Praise 106.5 not just playing the songs, but REALLY listening to the words. It has truly been a healing balm to my broken heart. Read More
