Boy, how time flies. My wife Sharon and I just celebrated our 33rd wedding anniversary. Actually, you could say our 66th anniversary. You see, when we got married, our pastor wrote the wrong date on the marriage certificate and so we actually have 2 anniversaries each year. It’s amazing that that much time has passed. I have to give my wife all the credit. I’ve lived with myself my whole life, it isn’t always easy, yet she has done so with wonderful grace all this time.
As I ponder God’s goodness to us, I can’t help but think about the example a marriage is supposed to be. A picture of Christ and His bride, the church. That marriage is over 2000 years old! What a testament to God’s unfailing love for His children. So, often we don’t do such a good job of being ‘the bride’. I know I fail. But, the good news is that Christ continues to pursue us and call us to Him. So, whether you have a ring on your finger or not, if you are a part of the body you do have an anniversary to celebrate!
