Just a few more weeks before the kids go back to school. How is that for you? For me, it’s a conflict. There are always so many things around the house that need to be done. Nothing’s ever clean. I feel disorganized, distracted. Do other people have dog leashes and diapers on their dining room table?
I find myself always trying to make order from the chaos, and it just doesn’t happen. Plus, it might not even be true that I need to have a clean house. Here’s what is true: our kids will never be this young again. Who am I kidding? I won’t be this young again. Let’s make some memories. I want to be that mom. That wife. The fun one. Not some crazy lady shouting ‘Put your dishes in the dishwasher!!’
I guess this is the week I decided just to let the housework go. Giving you permission to do the same. Whether it’s Skillet and Colton Dixon at the Northwest Washington Fair, Seahawks preseason action or just making a picnic dinner in the park, I’m going for it.
It’s all in how you market it anyway. I hear someone shouting, ‘Where’s my 12 shirt?’ This week, the answer is, ‘In the archives.’ My new word for the dirty clothes.
