If you ever need a place to warm up in the winter, might I suggest a trip to Texas?
My wife Kathy & I just got back from a week around the Austin & San Antonio area. It was our first time there and we really had fun exploring.
Let me play travel guide for a moment! The Alamo is one of the top tourist attractions in Texas, and provided the backdrop for how unique the journey was for the people of this territory. While you are there, take an entertaining 30 minute narrated river cruise along the River Walk, the downtown shopping district.
If you take an hour drive west of Austin’s BBQ hot spots you’ll find the LBJ Ranch… fascinating history. Travis Lake has a nearly aerial view from an area called Oasis. And, on Kathy’s ‘must do list’ we finally happened upon some real nice live country music at the historic Gruene Dance Hall, the oldest dance hall in Texas. Yee haw!
Aside from all the sights we took in, what really stood out was the genuine friendly nature of people we encountered most everywhere we went. People just naturally struck up conversations with ‘us strangers.’ It reminded me that when you’ve been treated well, it just encourages you to do the same for others.
So, in your future travels should you yearn for a little warmth… from the the sun and the people you encounter… there’s certainly a lot of memories you can bring home from Texas.
QUESTION: Are you heading out on any adventures this Spring or Summer? Where are you headed?
