Cara’s mom introduced her to PRAISE 106.5 when she was a little girl, and she grew up listening to the station. It’s been in her life for over 30 years, and she’s seen God move through the music in powerful ways.
Today, Cara has four kids of her own—Ethan, 9, Thomas, 7, Esther, 5, and Anaya, 3. Whether they’re at home or in the car, PRAISE is always on in the background.
Music has always been a big part of Cara’s life. It connects her to God’s comfort and hope.
‘My grandma passed away in April, on my mom’s birthday,” she says. “During that whole season, it was really tough.”
Songs like “I Can Only Imagine” helped get Cara through. “Knowing that she was up in heaven, dancing before Jesus, was a picture to behold! I was really comforted by the fact that God was there and she was with God.”
Her oldest, Ethan, connects with music—and Cara is glad to see him excited about PRAISE. “With the culture the way it is nowadays, my concern has always been having that good, godly influence in his life,” she says.
“He will sit there, listening to PRAISE, and he’s belting out DC Talk,” she says. “He’s belting out the Newsboys … He’s always singing music and wanting to listen to music.’
During PRAISE’s Fall Share, Ethan asked his mom if he could call the station to give. He ran upstairs to find his piggy bank, and his siblings followed—looking to see what they could jingle out of theirs.
“Ethan discovered $5 in his piggy bank,” Cara says. “And Esther and Thomas both came down with handfuls of change.”
Even their 3-year-old sister, Anaya, wanted to help. “Anaya’s like, ‘Where is my piggy bank, mom?’” Cara says. “So I go get her piggy bank. They all managed to gather together some money.’
Then came the phone call to PRAISE. “Ethan was just so excited,” Cara says, “feeling so important that he’s doing something to help out. He was just over the moon excited.’
