When I first heard the song ‘Shoulders’ by the group For King and Country I thought it was an odd title for a song until one day, as I was driving to work with tears streaming down my face I listened closely to the words….
My help comes from You
You’re right here pulling me through
You carry my weakness…my sickness…my brokeness…all on Your SHOULDERS
Now perhaps you are very visual like me so when I think about that song or hear it on the radio I actually envision putting my cares, my worries and my fears on His shoulders. God asks us to. He wants to bear our burdens and all of those things that weigh us down and try to steal our JOY! It really hit home for me.
I like to use my commute to the radio station each morning at O’dark thirty to just be silent before God, to pray, to Praise Him for the things going on in my life and then to give to him what He asks, my cares and sometimes it feels as if I am overloading him but this I know God answers prayers and does not abandon me and is always WITH me no matter what I am going through. And I invite YOU to pile YOUR worries and fears on His shoulders as well.
This Sunday, I am so very excited to sing along when ‘For King and Country’ sings ‘Shoulders’ as they headline PRAISEFEST. I’ll be the one doing the ‘ugly cry’, singing very loudly with tears streaming down my face knowing that His shoulders are Big and Broad enough…even for me.
‘Cast all your cares on Him, for He cares for you.’ 1 Peter 5:7
