I said I’d drive her to school until she’s 18, and I just put her on the bus. I wave goodbye to her little face framed by the bus window. She looks happy. Me – not so much.
Does your back-to-school involve the standard prayer we pray for our kids? ‘Oh Lord, please keep them safe.’
I remember when a friend of ours challenged me on that one. He said the bolder faith prayer is to pray for our kids to walk in ADVENTURE with God. I think he even used the word ‘dangerous.’ Eek.
When you think about it, don’t you bond more with people when you go through hard times? Aren’t your best times of growth after you’ve come through something challenging? So why do we want our kids to play small and stay small?
I confess, I still pray for her to stay safe. I can’t help it. But if God wants to throw in something less tame, I know He’s good, and I know He’ll be with her. Same goes for Moms and Dads, too.
May you walk in adventure with God today!
