Military Hero: Bob Love
Nominated by: Vicki Grende
My dad is my hero. He selflessly served in 2 wars. First, he was a tail gunner in a B-17 during WWII. He flew in 20 missions over Europe in Squadron 816. Years later he also fought in the air force during the Korean War. He was on a B 50 crew based in Merced and on atomic bomb carriers. They were always on standby to go against Russia in case of war. His advanced base was an RAF base in England. He flew over a live A bomb drop in the desert of Nevada. That was a very scary experience. Next week marks his 93rd birthday and he can still tell you his serial number, details about his training, and war stories. He is a remarkable man and I’m proud to call him dad.
Thank you for your service Bob, we are grateful!
