Recently a nationwide Christian retailed filed for bankruptcy and closed all their stores earlier this year. The store manager of the Lynden store knew there was still a market in his community for a Christian store so he decided to launch Connections Store. This store just launched on August 10th in Lynden’s Fairway Center.
I don’t know about you, but I love the availability of having a Christian bookstore in the community. I love stopping by to browse new books, pick up a gift and patronize local business.
From their Press Release:
“As a locally owned independent, we are able to bring in products specific to our market and products that customers had been seeking for years, but the chain either underserved us or provided us with items that we knew would never sell,” Harman said.
Harman and his wife Evie chose a smaller space just a few doors down from the location of his previous employer, but still found a way to display a broad array of products. Along with greeting cards, Bibles and books, Connections Christian Store offers clothing, gifts, home décor and a children’s section with toys, games, books and T-shirts. It also can place orders for other products and quickly receive them.
The store’s name has deep meaning for the couple.
“The ultimate connection is the vertical connection with the Lord, and the horizontal connection is in our relationships with one another,” Harman said. “Our hope is that we will be a resource that helps others in their vertical connection and in their horizontal connection. Hence, the ‘t’ in our name is a cross that emphasizes the vertical and the horizontal.”
