The reality of Christmas is that there is more pressure on people to interact with their families, and maybe, I think a lot of people are lonely at Christmas, because they are having to face the dysfunction that is there, that the rest of the year, they can kind of brush-aside right?!
I used to work with the homeless ministry in west palm. At the end of each night, the people who led it would offer their cell phone. Because they used to be homeless and they said, every one of these guys that comes to this, the reason they are here, at the beginning was some broken relationship at home. And so, at every homeless ministry they would hold out their phone and say, “Who needs to call their family; who needs to say they’re sorry; who needs to ask for forgiveness; who needs to give forgiveness to someone; we will give you our phone and you can call them right now.”
And I think, Christmas forces you back into your family dynamic for a lot of people, and a lot of people, they have to feel that wound that maybe the rest of the year they can kind of forget about.
