Brant:
You decide, is this solid advice or not about how to be happy? A lady wrote this in 1820, so here’s what she said. For happiness, be as busy as you can. It’s really interesting. I don’t know how people would receive that now. I think everybody thinks they’re super busy, but I do think there’s a lot of idleness too.
Sherri:
I was going to say, I would assume she’s saying this to stay away from being idle.
Brant:
Right. And lonely and by herself do things even though everybody says they’re busy. We see how much time we watch in Netflix, how much time we play in video games. How much time. Okay. So it’s really healthy to be with other people and do stuff.
Second thing, see as much as you can of those friends who respect and like you, and of those acquaintances who amuse you. So, be around people and make you laugh. That is absolutely true, and we get to do that every day. I do.
Sherri:
Yes, I do too.
Brant:
Even to hang out with Sherri. It’s good for my mental health. Attend to the effects that tea and coffee produce on you. Again, I think that’s solid. The other ones we’re compare your lot with that of other people. Some people will say don’t compare yourself with your neighbors. Yeah. But okay. Humanity in general
Sherri:
And you see,
Brant:
Try that.
Sherri:
I’m doing pretty good.
Brant:
Yeah. Don’t expect too much from human life. Do good and try to please people to every degree that’s reasonable. Be as much as you can in the open air without fatigue. Get outside, do some stuff. Make the room where you commonly sit pleasant. So all that stuff,
Sherri:
I like that. When was that written?
Brant:
1820.
Sherri:
Good.
Brant:
She’s onto something.
